The midterm exam is worth 30% of the final grade. Students must attain an overall passing grade on the weighted average of the two exams in the course in order to obtain a clear pass (C or better). The midterm exam will focus on the topics covered in the first part of the course (before midterm): Introduction to Computers Microcomputer Applications: Word Powerpoint Excel Access Introduction to the Internet and HTML This material is covered in Weeks 1 - 7 Textbook references: Capron: Chapter 1, pages: 1-12 - 1-25 Chapter 2, pages: all pages of chapter 2 Chapter 3, pages: 3-63 - 3-74 Chapter 4, pages: 4-100 - 4-106 Numbering Systems: http://www.coquitlamcollege.com/adawson/NumberingSystems.htm Chapter 8, pages: 8-226 - 8-236 Office 2000 textbook: Word Project 1 Powerpoint Project 1 Excel Project 1 Access Project 1 The midterm exam will be composed of a mix of questions: Part 1 of the exam is made up of 15 multiple choice or true/false questions worth 2% each. Part 2 of the exam is composed of 10 short-answer questions worth 4% each. Part 3 of the exam is composed of 3 written questions worth 10% each. For Parts 2 and 3 of the exam, marks will be awarded for partially correct answers. GPA === Your attendance and progress is monitored throughout the course. Students receive regular status reports. Students may also collect a copy of their current status report from the Computer Science office during the instructor's office hours.
